CRPC ACTION PISTOL FOR 2012
Action Pistol at CRPC is different than at other clubs…we are not IPSC or IDPA-affiliated and use a more relaxed, fun format, but still use standard range commands. SAFETY IS OUR PRIMARY CONCERN, and we want all participants and observers to enjoy this sport in a safe environment. All matches use certified Range Safety Officers, and a ‘cold range’ policy is utilized where the only time the pistol and ammunition come together is at the firing line, under the close supervision of a Range Safety Officer.
If you have shot IPSC or IDPA matches you’ll see and hear familiar things, so don’t be shy. As a note to experienced shooters, pistols that have had grip safeties pinned or taped are not permitted. Any pistol that, in the opinion of the Range Safety Officers, has a safety-related problem during the match will be examined, and all pistols, ammunition and magazines are subject to safety inspections at any time by our staff.
STARTING IN APRIL 2012, STEEL-CASED AMMUNITION IS NOT PERMITTED IN ACTION PISTOL MATCHES HELD OUTDOORS FOR SAFETY REASONS; many of these steel-cased cartridges have bimetal-jacketed projectiles that may spall and throw jacket material back at the competitors and observers. Wolf, Herters, and Tula are some of the brands of ammunition that have steel cases. While steel-cased ammo IS allow on our main range for general practice and target shooting, it is prohibited at outdoor pistol matches.
Action Pistol matches will be held on the second Sunday of each month for the 2012 year; this is done to avoid conflicts with Lone Oak and Shelton matches.
Matches for 2012 will consist of FOUR stages; bring at least 150 rounds. FOUR MAGAZINES are highly recommended (more of you shoot a single-stack semi-auto). A safe holster and magazine pouches (or some safe way to carry magazines, suitable for continuous wear) are needed. New shooters uncomfortable with drawing a pistol ‘under the clock’ may be accommodated by an alternate starting method under the close supervision of the Range Safety Officers. If you have equipment questions, please contact the Rangemaster.
Match starts at 10AM; this means show up at 9:15 to assist with prep and stage setup. Registration is at 9:20, Safety Briefing is at 9:45 (mandatory for all shooters), first rounds go downrange at 10AM. Please show up early to assist with setup.
ALL SHOOTERS ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND THE SAFETY BRIEFING, ASSIST WITH SETUP/TEARDOWN, BRASSING AND TAPING to ensure smooth match flow. Per CRPC policy, serving club officers and working ROs may ‘shoot through’ stages as they have other duties, so the shooting order may change from stage to stage.
All new shooters will be given a special briefing prior to the match to familiarize them with our procedures. New shooters and observers are welcome at our events.
Match fees are $20 for CRPC members, $25 for non-members and persons with expired memberships; FIRST-TIME SHOOTERS AT OUR ACTION PISTOL MATCHES ARE FREE.
